Born and raised in Kampala, Ron’s passion is to add value to the lives of other young people in his community, and he sees Jibu as the way to benefit his community while making money in the process. Early in his career, Ron found that establishing himself as an entrepreneur was challenging. In trying to raise capital for his first business, he encountered prospect investors who either thought he was too young, or wanted to take ownership of his budding business. The few who decided to invest loaned money at high interest levels with short repayment periods. With Jibu, Ron found a viable financial platform, and decided to open his franchise in a residential area near a semi-urban trading center. Ron has identified the key groups within the neighborhood, including other small business owners, lower-middle-class residents, SMEs and schools, who will benefit most from Jibu. He expects that within 10 years, safe drinking water will be so affordable and accessible that diseases like Typhoid will be things of the past.
