01st May 2024, Jibu Gas One was launched in Kigali, Rwanda.

The long awaited partnership bringing a long lasting solution to the LP Gas market in Rwanda was officially launched.

This Joint venture partnership between Jibu Co and the Japanese leading LP Gas company Saisan Co Ltd, brings to life the JV Company; Jibu Gas One. It is expected to contribute to and change the management and flow of LP Gas in Rwanda. This was agreed upon by both sides on Wednesday, 01st May 2024, when the treaty was signed.

The ceremony was attended by the CEO of Jibu Co. Galen Welsch, who said that due to the experience of both parties in their respective areas of expertise, it will make it easier for Rwandans who use LP Gas to access better services.

“The New LP Gas Company will now be operating as “Jibu Gas One”, he said, and we will also be setting up a special system in various locations where people will have access to the gas in a unique system.” Some of the expected changes include the introduction of a station-like system for customers to refill their Gas cylinders. The special feature is a way to receive gas as much as you can afford. Jibu Co Rwanda’s management announced that it would be a long-term solution for people exposed to cooking gas.

A future option to build a dedicated system that delivers gas to people’s homes, and when they use it, it is logged, and paid monthly, according to how much a customer consumes. Due to the need for specialized infrastructure and investments, this model will be implemented in 2025 but initially starting with the conventional housing units known as “Apartments”.

The CEO of Saisan Co Ltd, Takehiko Kawamoto, stated that the safety of the Government of Rwanda and providing assistance in the event of a technical incident is one of the main priorities of the partnership. He said the political situation in the country and the security situation in Rwanda are the main reasons for the investment. “We also want to contribute to the end of the use of coal and fire-wood in cooking, because there will be a fair price for everyone.” He continued. There will also be training for employees to represent their clients.

Muvuna Mediatrice, a JIbu Franchisee, said the partnership will allow them to gain experience by working with specialists and that the fact that now everyone will buy gas based on their current budget is a welcome development.
